The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine plans to build a cargo terminal at the Boryspil International Airport on the terms of public-private partnership (PPP).
General director of “Boryspil” Pavel Ryabikin told about it on briefing at the airport on Thursday.
“Today, the Mininfrastructure is preparing a competition for the PPP at the cargo terminal. We could already start the preparatory work, but since the management body has decided to hold the tender, the conditions are now being harmonized and we are in a halt, although we urgently need to build a new cargo terminal “- he said.
According to the general director, the Ministry liked project prepared by the enterprise, but the Ministry of Infrastructure decided that construction should be carried out by someone else.
“We are ready to build it (cargo terminal – IF) to build it at least tomorrow. It will be located on the site of the old terminal. In fact, we have nine warehouses now, of which three fall into the reconstruction area, and for some time we find ourselves in very complex operational conditions … But I think that in the period from 8 to 12 working months we can realize this project “, – emphasized Ryabikin.
According to him, the cargo terminal adjacent to the terminal “F” will work as a cargo warehouse for the period of construction of a new cargo terminal.
“The new terminal will be located next to it immediately after it. There are now five to six small buildings, including an export terminal built in 1962 and a warehouse of transit storage,” said the director of “Boryspil”.
He also noted that among the companies interested in PPP, are the cargo carrier Silk Way, a number of specialized cargo concentrators, as well as various cargo-companies.
“The number of interested persons is great. The question is how much they are able to implement this project,” Ryabikin said.
He also noted that this year “Boryspil” can survive winter holidays without significant cargo collapse – the airport team has installed a new tracking software, upgraded logistics and storage system.
