International Trade Fair for Jewelry, Gems and Watches The 15th Korea International Jewelry and Watch Fair will be held from 13 to 16 April in Seoul, Korea. The exhibition area of last year’s event was 10348 sq.m.

Antonov Airlines (a subsidiary of Antonov State Enterprise), one of the world’s leading operators of heavy-duty AN-124 Ruslan, increased cargo shipments by 22.8% to 21,463 thousand tonnes in comparison with 2015 year.
The number of flights the company in 2016 increased by 25.1% to 448, the fleet flew more than 4.6 thousand hours at the end of 2016.
The Antonov Airlines fleet has now 7 An-124-100 Ruslan aircrafts with a payload capacity of 150 tons, an super transport vehicle An-225 Mriya with a payload capacity of 250 tons, a multi-purpose An-74T (10 tons), An-22 Antey (60 tons ), An-26 (5.5 tons).

The Polish government passed a resolution to grant Ukraine a loan of up to 100 million euro. The decision was announced by Minister of Finance Mateusz Szczurek at a press conference. 68 million euro should be directed at improving quality of roads.
The loan is to be used to finance the modernization of road infrastructure at the Polish- Ukrainian border and border crossings. Ukraine agreed that at least 60% of the works financed through the loan will be carried out by Polish companies. Mr Szczurek explained this will allow to support both Polish industry and Ukraine’s economy.
Ukrainian side has already presented the Polish partners with its offers on projects to be funded by this help. Currently Polish authorities should evaluate the given suggestions to define the direction to finance.
Poland provides credits for Ukraine based on intergovernmental agreement on mutual assistance. Through such lending Poland expects to stimulate border traffic. It is also expected that it would boost development of Eastern Polish regions.

Samsung Heavy Industries has built the largest container ship in the world. The new vessel has ushered in an era of 20,000 TEU-class container ships (1 TEU equals one 6-meter-long container).
The world leader in shipbuilding has completed the construction of one of the four 20,150 TEU-class container ships for an order it acquired from Japanese shipping company MOL in February 2015.
The ship has been named MOL Triumph. The container ship measures 400 meters long, 58.8 meters wide and 32.8 meters high, and can transport up to 20,150 standard size containers at once.
The MOL Triumph, which is highly efficient in energy saving due to a propeller and other features, has become the largest ever among the container ships that have been built thus far, and the first ship that has opened an era of 20,000 TEU-class container ships.
After the christening ceremony, the MOL Triumph will undergo the final phase of construction, and be handed over to the ship-owner on March 27 before being deployed to the European route. Samsung Heavy Industries plans to build nine additional 20,000 TEU-class container ships this year.

Maersk and IBM said they intend to work with a network of shippers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, ports and customs authorities to build the new global trade digitization solution, which is expected to go into production later this year.
Danish shipping company Maersk and Armonk, N.Y.-based global technology company IBM announced a new collaboration to use blockchain technology to help transform the global, cross-border supply chain.
IBM and Maersk are developing the new global trade digitization solution using the Hyperledger Fabric framework, and it is expected to go into production later this year.
Both companies said they intend to work with a network of shippers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, ports and customs authorities to build the new solution.
“The solution will help manage and track the paper trail of tens of millions of shipping containers across the world by digitizing the supply chain process from end-to-end to enhance transparency and the highly secure sharing of information among the trading partners,” according to an IBM press release.
IBM said the solution has the potential to save the industry billions of dollars, and noted how costs associated with trade documentation processing and administration are estimated to be up to one-fifth the actual physical transportation costs.
For shippers, the planned solution can help reduce trade documentation and processing costs, and help eliminate delays associated with errors in the physical movement of paperwork.
For customs authorities, the solution is intended to give real time visibility, significantly boosting the information available for risk analysis and targeting, which could eventually lead to increased safety and security as well as greater efficiency in border inspection clearance procedures.
“We expect the solutions we are working on will not only reduce the cost of goods for consumers, but also make global trade more accessible to a much larger number of players from both emerging and developed countries,” said Ibrahim Gokcen, chief digital officer for A.P. Moller-Maersk.
