Jost Lammers will take over as president and chief executive of Munich Airport for a five-year term beginning on January 1, 2020.
He will succeed Michael Kerkloh, who is to retire at the end of this year after 17 years in the role.
Bavarian minister of finance and chairman of the Flughafen München GmbH supervisory board Albert Füracker noted that in his current post as chief executive of Budapest Airport, Lammers “has guided that airport through an impressive period of growth and development”.
Lammers previously served as chief executive of Flughafen Düsseldorf Ground Handling. He was recently elected president of Airports Council International Europe.
Munich Airport’s new management board will also include Thomas Weyer (chief financial officer and director of infrastructure) and Andrea Gebbeken (managing director: commercial and security).

Carousel Logistics, which specialises in the transport of parts and products for high-performance industries across Europe, has obtained Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status for two of its business units, enabling them to accelerate import and export procedures and
facilitate just-in-time logistics solutions in the event of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit.
AEO certification simplifies customs procedures and confirms that the holder meets both EU and UK customs standards, thereby helping to mitigate potential delays to shipments between Britain and the EU after Brexit.
Carousel in the UK has been granted AEO Full (AEOF) status, which covers both customs simplification and security and is the highest level of certification under the EU scheme. In Germany, the company attained AEO for customs simplification (AEOC) last year.
Kevin Turner, divisional director at Carousel, said the accreditations will ensure that shipments will be safer, more secure, and less likely to face delays in clearing international borders.
Carousel group chief executive Graham Martin added: “Extending the [AEO] status across the group is an important and strategic milestone for the business and our clients. As we continue to await details regarding the context of the UK’s departure from the EU, we’re as ready as we can be, and have made it even easier for clients to do business with us – no matter the outcome.”
The company pointed out that AEOF status offers “the potential for future reciprocal arrangements and mutual recognition with countries outside the European Community, for example, USA or trading partners that adopt the WCO Safe framework”.

Caribbean Airlines Cargo has signed a new interline agreement with Air Canada, which enables it to ship into and out of all major cities in Canada.
The new interline agreement means that Caribbean Airlines Cargo can facilitate shipments from hubs such as Barbados, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, to destinations such as Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.
Caribbean Airlines Cargo also has interline agreements with companies such as Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Copa Airlines, Lufthansa, Norwegian Cargo and Saudi Cargo. These agreements enable the Caribbean Airlines Cargo to offer priority shipping at affordable rates globally.
Caribbean Airlines Cargo also offers direct cargo services to 80% of Caribbean islands. The company ships general cargo, live animals, perishables, human remains, dangerous goods, valuable cargo and diplomatic documents. Additionally, it caters to the needs of the oil and gas industry by transporting large and oversized time-sensitive items.

In order to create profitable growth in the booming cross-border e-commerce business, the companies will collaborate in last-mile parcel delivery in Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Under the agreement, In Time s.r.o., a subsidiary of Austrian Post, will deliver parcels sent by DHL customers to Slovakia, while Deutsche Post DHL Group’s Czech subsidiary, PPL CZ s.r.o. will deliver parcels sent by Austrian Post customers to Czech Republic. Both relationships are expected to begin in September 2019.
Customers will benefit from high-quality parcel delivery services, including short delivery times for shipments. The collaboration will thus allow both parties to create further profitable growth and tap the potential of the growing cross-border e-commerce business.
This agreement has no impact on the business activities of DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, Freight and DHL Supply Chain in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Lufthansa Cargo’s profits declined in the first half of this year, a report from the company reveals.
First-half year adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for Lufthansa’s Cargo logistics segment declined to EUR15 million (prior-year period: EUR127 million), as a result of falling demand on routes between Europe and Asia. Lufthansa Cargo has responded to this change in the airfreight market by adjusting its capacities accordingly.
Looking to the future, Lufthansa expects its Cargo segment to post a full-year margin of between 3 and 5%. However, this is dependent on freight demand stabilising in the fourth-quarter period of this year, the season in which this business segment tends to generate a substantial part of its earnings.
Ulrik Svensson, chief financial officer of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said: “Our earnings are feeling the effects of tough competition in Europe, especially on our short-haul routes out of Germany and Austria. We are responding to this by further reducing our costs and increasing our flexibility.”
Lufthansa’s half-year report also indicates that its long-haul operations and Technik engine maintenance services performed well in the first six months of 2019. Meanwhile, the price war in Germany and Austria had a negative impact on its short-haul route earnings.

Antonov Airlines is continuing to provide air support to Oil Spill Response after it ordered a second transport skid for its oil capping stack in Singapore.
The transport skid will be available to Subsea Well Intervention Services subscribers in the fourth quarter, and will supplement the existing skid located in Stavanger, Norway.
The first stack was introduced in August 2018 where a demonstration flight was performed as part of a large-scale exercise from Stavanger.
The combined capping stack and airfreight skid design was verified for air transport by Antonov Airlines’ technical department for the AN-124-100 and AN-124-100M-150, and the AN-225.
Martin Griffiths, commercial manager of Antonov Airlines says: “We were very happy with the demonstration flight that was performed last year on one of our AN-124-100s in Stavanger. It was the first time anyone has transported a fully assembled capping stack on an aircraft, and in the event of any future oil spill emergencies, we will now be able to provide a rapid response anywhere in the world.”

When Dobrila the griffon vulture became exhausted on its seasonal migration route, Turkish Cargo carried the rare bird to its new home in Serbia.
The endangered griffon vulture was migrating from Serbia before it was found exhausted by farmers in Sanliurfa.
After undergoing checks at Sanliurfa’s Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Dobrila would have been free to go if it was able to fly.
Officials at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry established contact with Serbian counterparts using the tag and tracking number on Dobrila’s foot.
Following discussions, it was decided to send Dobrila to the Biological Research Institute in Belgrade.
After Turkish Cargo carried the endangered bird to Serbia via Istanbul, Dobrila was handed over to Serbian officials during a ceremony attended by Tanju Bilgic, ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Serbia, and Goran Trivan, minister of environmental protection of Serbia.
Irena Hribsek, a biologist from the Foundation for the Protection of Birds of Prey says: “Today is a very special day for Dobrila, because after months of rehabilitation, it will fly for the first time. We thank Turkish Cargo for their support.”
