TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE OF KAZAKHSTAN

Automobile transport

The road network in Kazakhstan is constantly evolving and today covers more than 140,000 km. The main highways of Kazakhstan are: M32, M36 and M38.

Sea transport

The largest ports of Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea are the ports in the cities of Atyrau and Aktau. Main waterways are Shaik and Irtysh.

Aviation transport

Kazakhstan has several major airports, the largest is in the city of Astana (the capital), and there are also major airports in the cities of Sary-Arka, Karaganda and Almaty. Several international airlines fly to these airports regularly. The most famous national carrier in the Republic of Kazakhstan is Air Astana.

Railway transport

The railway network includes 13,700 km of routes in Kazakhstan, of which about 25% are electrified. Among the most famous railways is the Turkestan-Siberian Railway (Turksib), Semipalatinsk – Almaty – Arys. There is also a high-speed line between the capital Astana and Almaty in Kazakhstan.

Today, Kazakhstan is one of the important strategic foreign economic partners of Ukraine and other countries in international trade. The trade turnover between Ukraine and Kazakhstan is increasing every year, and therefore the number of requests for the delivery of goods in this direction is growing. In addition, Ukraine is a transit country, that is why, goods that are exported to Kazakhstan are not necessarily of Ukrainian origin, but pass through Ukraine in transit.

CUSTOMS UNION

In 2010, Kazakhstan entered the Customs Union. The Customs Union provides for the abolition of customs duties, protection from countries that are not part of it, as well as a single customs territory between the member countries of the union. As you know, Ukraine is not included in the Customs Union.

From January 1, 2016, the Russian Federation announced the imposition of an embargo on the importation of food products from Ukraine. Thus, it established restrictions on the import of certain goods that travel in transit through the territory of Russia. At the moment, the restriction has been extended until July 1, 2019.

CARGO DELIVERY OPTIONS

Now all transportation of Ukrainian goods by road and rail to Kazakhstan is recommended to be organized through the territory of the Republic of Belarus. It is necessary to take into account this fact in the implementation of transportation, as well as the fact that this direction is now not profitable because of the existing restrictions on transit through the territory of Russia.

An alternative option for the delivery of goods from Ukraine to Kazakhstan is auto delivery with ferry remelting across the Black Sea. At the same time, delivery times, of course, increase. You also need to be prepared for the influence of weather conditions (especially in the autumn-winter period). But with this type of delivery, any problems with Russian customs are excluded.

Currently, the priority is air travel to Kazakhstan, despite the high cost. Of course, this type of transportation is fast, reliable and safe. It should be noted that the delivery of goods takes 1-2 days. Since some time will take delivery of cargo to / from the airport, terminal handling of cargo at the airport, customs procedures and other possible organizational issues.

Despite the high cost of such transportation, the transportation of valuable and fragile items, luxury goods, as well as perishable and urgent goods will be economically viable. It should be noted that there are no restrictions on the type of cargo available for air transportation, but you need to take into account the weight, size and number of seats.

For reliable transportation, the cargo must be well packed in accordance with the regulatory and technical documentation, and the following documents are needed: an invoice, invoices for the goods, a quality certificate and a passport for the goods.
