We live in an era when national cultures, economies, borders and political polarization no longer play such an important role. Liberal tendencies are gaining strength in almost all spheres of activity, technologies are developing at an incredible pace, and a significant part of social life is determined by global processes.

Enormous developments in technology and communications have brought countries closer in many areas from economics to politics. This situation removes the concept of national economy, national politics, national culture and, on the other hand, forces countries to become a society that produces goods, services and information in accordance with national standards.

We can also observe globalization in manufacturing, finance, politics and socio-cultural spheres. Thanks to sociocultural interaction and sociocultural globalization, countries get to know each other and their cultures better, and their rapid interaction creates an intermediate culture – the so-called culture of mobility.

World globalization has contributed to the huge development of international cargo transportation. Arrangements and agreements on cooperation in the field of freight transportation allow today to send and receive goods all over the world. A well-developed transport network allows each client to choose exactly that forwarder or carrier that best meets his requirements.

Of course, this interaction between people makes people all over the world find common ground with each other. Instead of dividing cultures, there are differences between generations. In accordance with the conditions and characteristics of the time of their birth, generations can be divided into the following groups:

Baby Boomers – born between 1945 and 1964

They were born during the Second World War and the post-war hunger years. This generation is mainly focused on making money and feeding themselves and their families.

Generation X – born between 1965 and 1979

These are people with strong personalities. They tend to have more ambition and workaholics. The most important thing for them is to work. They value long hours of work and also earn and save money to protect their future. Technology was not a huge part of their lives, but they can no longer ignore it.

Generation Y (Millennials) or Digital Natives – born between 1980 and 1995

Technology is part of the daily life of this generation. They moved to the digital world from the analogue in which they were born and live. Millennials have been labeled as lazy, narcissistic and spoiled. In fact, in 2014, Time magazine called them “the me-me-me generation.”

Generation Z (Centennial) or Post-Millennials – born between 1996 and 2010

This generation is Internet oriented and they are thinking more and more about their lives through the Internet and social media. At the same time, they want to get what they want right away and do not tolerate slowness. But their perception of the world changes from “me” to “us”. In addition, technology and transportation have become synonymous to them, they are focused on building relationships, they take into account new opportunities and ideas, they welcome change, they are entrepreneurial, financially oriented, competitive and want to be heard.

Generation Alpha – born after 2010

To describe their general behavior, we must observe them in the coming years as they grow.

Representatives of each of these generations have their own distinctive, most important qualities in the work of a particular company, thanks to which they make a choice in its favor. However, today there are general rules for all companies to successfully meet customer needs.

1. The speed of communication with the impatient generation has become of great importance.

2. By demonstrating empathy, companies must genuinely listen to problems and come up with sincere solutions.

3. Companies should be available around the clock, use the phone and social networks in order to always stay in touch with customers

4. Modern technologies and the Internet serve for constant and safe communication with clients anywhere in the world.

5. Companies must create unique value for their customers.

What should companies do?

Of course, the core values that companies should focus on will change as generations change.

As for the companies-representatives of the logistics sector, it is vital for them to be always in touch with customers and provide up-to-date information at any time of the day.

For this, companies that carry out international cargo transportation must use modern technologies that allow tracking cargo at all stages of the logistics chain.

In addition, freight forwarding companies need a network of international partners, thanks to which they can cover the maximum number of routes for sending goods.

Close cooperation with airlines, whose airplanes directly deliver goods around the world, gives freight forwarding companies the opportunity to send cargo without interruption.

And of course, today, as before, the quality of the services provided is in the first place. The integrity and safety of international cargo cannot be questioned. The client wants to dispatch the goods without delays or problems and deliver the goods to their destination as planned.
